Community Collaboration Grants are not the only source of funding for effective partnering that serve that educational needs of local communities. This site provides many options for foundation and federal funding opportunities, but it is not a complete list of available funding opportunities for museums, libraries, and public broadcasters. States offer many types of resources through arts and humanities councils. Local or national nonprofit organizations and corporations also provide funding opportunities.
 IMLS encourages partnerships in a several funding categories beyond Partnership for a Nation of Learners. Discretionary funding support is offered through our National Leadership Grants for Libraries, National Leadership Grants for Museums, and the Museums for America Grant program. Information on IMLS discretionary grant programs is available on the IMLS Web site.

Through the legislation of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), a section of the Museum and Library Services Act of 2003, IMLS provides funds to State Library Administrative Agencies (SLAAs) using a population-based formula. State libraries may use the appropriation to support statewide initiatives and services; they also may distribute the funds through subgrant competitions or cooperative agreements to public, academic, research, school, and special libraries in their state.  CPB's grants for large scale community outreach for national broadcasts are open to public television stations. Special consideration is given to projects that include substantive collaboration with national public media entities and other partners. Information is available on the CPB Web site.

 The National Center for Outreach supports community outreach and engagement efforts by distributing approximately $400,000 per year in grants to public television stations. Support considerations include projects that will have positive community impact, create strong community partnerships, and develop rich, sustainable outreach practices. Challenge Grants NEH challenge grants help institutions and organizations secure long-term improvements in, and support for, their humanities programs and resources. Awards are made to museums, public libraries, colleges, research institutions, historical societies and historic sites, public television and radio stations, universities, scholarly associations, state humanities councils, and other nonprofit entities.

We the People Family and Youth Programs in American History As part of the We the People initiative, NEH invites proposals for public programs that encourage intergenerational learning about and reflection on significant topics in history and culture. Grants will support programming tailored to youth and/or family audiences at museums, libraries, historical societies and sites, parks, and other places in the community.

Implementation Grants for Museums and Historical Organizations These grants support interpretive museum exhibitions (both long-term and traveling) and the interpretation of historic sites, and include support for accompanying publications, websites, and public humanities programming.

Implementation Grants for Humanities Projects in Libraries and Archives Implementation Grants support public humanities programs that interpret and use collections in libraries and archives. Support is available for various activities that use a range of formats. Creative collaboration is encouraged.

Implementation Grants for Special Projects Special Project grants support a variety of public humanities program formats, including public discussion forums, hands-on learning experiences, discussion series based on reading or film-viewing, multi-faceted conferences, or symposia. Applications for projects with interdisciplinary perspectives are welcome, as are applications for projects that offer new insights into familiar subjects and use innovative formats and non-traditional ways of engaging audiences through collaborations.

Consultation Grants for Radio Projects The goal of NEH in supporting projects for radio is two-fold: to increase the presence of the humanities within radio programming and to use the variety and creativity of radio production to engage public audiences in the ideas, approaches, and resources of the humanities.

Radio Projects: Development and Production Grants NEH supports radio programs that address significant figures, events, or developments in the humanities and draw their content from humanities scholarship. Grants are made to radio organizations and stations, as well as to independent radio producers affiliated with non-profit institutions.

We the People Challenge Grants in History, Institutions, and Culture As part of its We the People initiative, NEH invites proposals for challenge grants designed to help institutions and organizations secure long-term improvements in and support for humanities activities that explore significant themes and events in American history, thereby advancing knowledge of the founding principles of the in their full historical and institutional context. Applications are welcome from colleges and universities, museums, public libraries, research institutions, historical societies and historic sites, public television and radio stations, scholarly associations, state humanities councils, and other nonprofit entities.

AmeriCorps Indian Tribes Grants Program AmeriCorps Indian Tribes Grants Program: AmeriCorps State and National sets aside one percent (1%) of grant funds to support programs operated by American Indian Tribes. AmeriCorps provides human and other resources to community organizations, including faith-based organizations, to build their capacity to meet local needs in education, the environment, senior independent living, public safety, homeland security, and other critical areas. Collaborations with other organizations are encouraged, and the lead applicant must be the tribal entity.

National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Drug Abuse Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award (SEDAPA) The SEDAPA Program funds the development and evaluation of innovative model programs and materials for enhancing knowledge and understanding of neuroscience and the biology of drug abuse and addiction among K-12 students, the general public, health care practitioners, and other groups. The award provides support for the formation of partnerships between scientists and educators, media experts, community leaders, and other interested organizations for the development and evaluation of programs and materials that will enhance knowledge and understanding of science related to drug abuse.

Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth Grants Projects must provide participatory learning and engagement of students with skilled artists, teachers, and excellent art. It is required that funded projects ensure the application of national, state, or local arts education standards.

Access to Artistic Excellence The purpose of these grants is to foster and preserve excellence in the arts and provide access to the arts for all Americans. This category supports projects that provide short-term arts exposure or arts appreciation for children and youth as well as intergenerational education projects. Application categories under Access to Artistic Excellence include Dance, Design, Folk & Traditional Arts, Literature, Local Arts Agencies, Media Arts, Museums, Music, Musical Theater, Opera, Presenting, Theater, Visual Arts.
